How To Swing A Golf Club - A Simple Drill To Perfect Your Swing Balance
A common problem that novice golfers have is correctly transferring their bodyweight from the back foot to the front foot on the downswing.
Beginner golfers tend to be a little bit tentative with their swing and end up hanging back a bit. The result from this is often a scooped shot which veers off to the right with very little power.
To get you balance right there is a simple ‘how to swing a golf club‘ drill which is designed to help you feel the correct weight shift onto the front foot. The beauty of this particular drill is that there are only two possible results - either you correctly shift your weight you fall over!
1. Take up your normal stance, but before you take your backswing, slide your back foot in behind your right foot so that just your toe is touching the ground for support. Now this will leave you unbalanced as you take your backswing but this is intentional.
2. Now, once you have reached the top of the backswing, swing through the golf ball like you would on any normal shot. If you are swinging correctly your body will automatically make the correct transfer of weight to your front side.
