Young People Learn to Knit Too

Young people learn to knit today almost as much as the older folks. It used to be that knitting was solely in the domain of the retired grandmother who knit all day long and gave away her finished creations to all the kids and grand kids as gifts. This is no longer true. Walk around any college campus and you’re almost guaranteed to see more than one young person knitting while reading or just knitting while relaxing outside (especially as the weather improves. Why this interest in knitting? Well, there are a lot a reasons, but a couple of the most often mentioned ones are the relaxation of it. Many people find that just absorbing themselves in their knitting craft lets them escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a while and forget about everything. A second reason mentioned quite often is the sense of satisfaction one gets by creating something with their own two hands. Too often in this "I want it yesterday" culture we live in, people just go to the store and buy whatever article of clothing they happen to want. The "olden days" of having to make what you wanted have been all but forgotten. With knitting, people are able to get back to those days of creating something themselves and getting the self satisfaction that goes with it.
