How I became a couturier for a Chihuahua

My neighbor is a kind lady and she likes to take excellent care of her animals.  However, she doesn’t drive, so she is dependent on other people when she shops.  If they don’t want to go to a particular store, she doesn’t get to go.

She came over to my house one day with a problem.  She could not find a sweater that would fit her Chihuahua—the ones she found at various shops were too big.  She knows that I am a knitter, so she thought I could help.

I measured the dog from head to tail and around her little chest and figured the leg part of a sock pattern would do the trick.  So I knit that part of the sock and knit in two holes for the dog’s legs.  One time I had knit a sweater for myself that didn’t fit, so I quickly knit a sweater for the dog and my neighbor and her dog had a “mother-daughter” set.

I know that the Internet would make such a difference for my neighbor—she could go to petsmart.com and find anything she wanted for her beloved animals.
