Ways to quit smoking
There are dozens of ways to quit smoking - however the main ones are willpower alone, nicotine replacement therapy - including gum and patches, drug based solutions like Buproprion and Varenicline, individual and group counselling, hypnosis and other psychological approaches like aversion theray and CBT. Success rates vary from 5%-6% for willpower, to 12-14% for NRT, about 18% for drugs and anywhere from 25% to 65% for intensive counselling, stop smoking hypnosis and the other psychological treatments. The best solution is to take elements of all the most effective psychological treatments and combine them into an effective toolbox approach - a mutli-component approach is the modern term for that.
