The Three Types of Hearing Loss.
There are basically three types of hearing loss in individuals. The first type is called conductive hearing loss. It is often temporary and can be corrected. It is a problem with the outer or middle ear. Conductive hearing loss is often caused by infection, build up of wax or fluid, or a punctured eardrum. The second type is called sensorineural hearing loss. It is the most common type for 90% of adults. Sounds diminish in volume and become distorted. This type of problem can be treated with a hearing aid such as the fine line of Beltone Hearing Aids. The third type is called mixed hearing loss because it is a combination of the two.
