A few days ago, my sister was over at my house with her kids.  She and her husband were going to take an evening off, and my wife and I agreed to baby-sit.  As soon as they left, I went inside and started flipping through a few phone books to find the number for the nearest movie theater and pizza place.  This is what uncles are for: spoiling their nieces and nephews.  We got the movie show times, and went to the theater. Little did I know, but my sister and her husband were sitting just a few rows behind us.

Last Sunday we had a pretty big funeral for one of our fellow firefighters. Jim had worked for the fire department for over 15 years. He was actually a trainer in addition to being a firefighter. What happened was he ran into a burning apartment building to see if there were any other kids left behind. At some point he got turned around and never made it out. At the funeral a beautiful eulogy speech was given by our fire Captain. This was followed by the actual funeral itself. I haven’t been to too many funerals; however this one was very nice.

I recently came back from spending a few weeks with my old college roommates in Chicago.  They’re both in law schools there and were moving into a new apartment.  Before I went, however, I decided to look up some places I wanted to go.  I used a Phone book online to find a French restaurant to go to that my friends had never heard of.  I called ahead and made reservations to surprise my friends with and they loved it.  I was confident they would because all of the reviews for the restaurant on the website were incredibly positive and helpful.
