Green Card Marriages Can Be Tricky
In the past, obtaining United States citizenship used to be fairly easy. All you have to do, if you are a foreigner, would be to marry an American. They would bring you to the United States, you’d show your marriage certificate, and you would be any United States citizen. Today, things are much harder due to new immigration laws. One way that you can obtain citizenship through marriage is by going through the process of Green Card Marriages. This way, the foreign person obtains a green card first, and comes to live in United States. Once they are in the United States, then they are married here. This is sometimes an easier route to citizenship than getting married overseas or by marrying a foreigner first.
