Becoming an attorney is hard work.  Some attorneys do it because they love the challenge.  Others enjoy the exacting nature of the work or the thrill of the court.  Most have a strong sense of justice and want to see the judicial system upheld with a high degree of fairness.  An attorney often specializes in a certain type of work.  For example federal drug crimes defense attorneys focus on defending people who have been accused of drug crimes in federal cases.  Specializing allows the attorney to better hone their specific skill set to a particular part of the law that they know inside and out.
