Comparing travel insurance policies

It’s easy just to sign up to the travel insurance on offer from your travel agent, but why not shop around a bit more? Most of the time, travel agents will only offer one type of insurance, but these days, there’s a lot to choose from.

I recommend you compare travel insurance policies first – if, in the end, you do decide to go with your agent’s insurance, at least you will be all the wiser for your research, knowing what is covered, what isn’t covered, and if you’ve managed to wrangle the best price.

There’s a plethora of online travel insurers to choose from these days, so start with a quick search. Check out who underwrites their policies, because chances are it’s a major insurer with a good reputation. If you haven’t heard of the underwriter before, do a bit of digging first. Most importantly, read each policy disclosure booklet carefully!
